About BAF and PCM
Welcome to our Messaging Guide for Abortion Activists! This guide is a collaboration between the Baltimore Abortion Fund and Pro-Choice Maryland.
The Baltimore Abortion Fund (BAF) provides financial and logistical support to Marylanders having abortions and to people traveling to Maryland for abortion care.
Pro-Choice Maryland (PCM), formerly NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland, defends and advances reproductive health, rights, and justice in Maryland through policy and advocacy.
About the Messaging Guide
We created this messaging guide to provide abortion activists with current, reproductive justice-aligned language on abortion access — not only to be transgender-inclusive, but also to discuss our rights to abortion care with accurate, stigma-busting language.
The guide is divided into three parts:
- Defining Queer (LGBTQ+) Terms;
- Replacing Outdated Language; and
- Addressing Abortion Stigma.
